Suntory Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve
Whisky Region: Japanese Whisky
YAMAZAKI DISTILLER'S RESERVE, an ageless version of the famous Japanese single malt from Suntory. Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is the result of a blend of oak barrels from mizunara, a mythical Japanese tree, and barrels containing sherry or Bordeaux wine.
The distillery is well known for its reputation. The team of master assemblers, under the direction of Shingo Torii himself, is part of a whiskey "young talent" having finished aging in French oak barrels containing Bordeaux wine. This whiskey is very interesting young, because it develops delicate strawberry flavors, moreover, it is suave and easy to drink. However, in order to respect the Yamazaki signature, blenders sought the complexity with the dried fruit notes of Yamazaki whiskeys reared in sherry barrels up to more than twenty years old. Finally, after various attempts to harmonize these tastes so different, the best choice was whiskeys aged in Japanese oak barrels or mizunara. That's why this Distiller's Reserve has the round body and depth of Yamazaki whiskeys.
